Achievement Award Bestowed upon Sikh Scholar

Toronto: An
encyclopedist and museologist, Dr Raghbir Singh Singh Bains, was
honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award 2007 in recognition of his
worldwide community service at Baisakhi celebration function
organized in Toronto by the Ontario Sikh and Gurdwara Council.
The gathering was addressed, among others, by Hon’ble Dalton
McGuinty, Premier of the province of Toronto, Hon’ble Stephane Dion,
Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and Hon’ble Jack Layton leader
of the NDP Canada.
All the speakers acclaimed the contribution of Indo-Canadians in
building the land of Canada. Two Sikh students who excelled in the
field of education were also honoured and awarded scholarships.
Dr Bains is a long time educator, community activist and crusader
against drugs and AIDS.
Dr. Bains is the brain behind the Multimedia Sikh Museum at Khadur
Sahib, near Amritsar, where he used the robotic and liquid crystal
display technology to spread the message of universal love and
peace.
He was honoured with the Order of British Columbia in 2005, the
highest provincial award in Canada.
