Tamil co-workers kill Sikh man in
Dubai
WSN Bureau
GURDASPUR: A
45-year-old Sikh resident Randhir Singh of Maghar Mudian village, 6
km from here, succumbed to his injuries in a
Dubai hospital
on July 1 after he was allegedly assaulted by his Tamil co-workers.
Randhir had been working as the camp in-charge with ETA company in
Alqoz, Dubai, for the past over two years.
His wife Kulwant
Kaur said Punjabi and Tamil workers of the company were involved in
a quarrel over some issue and the two groups had been threatening
each other. On June 29, Tamils carrying sharp-edged weapons and rods
attacked Randhir and his nephew Jaswinder Singh, who also works in
the company, while they were in the office, she said.
Kulwant said
Randhir and Jaswinder were seriously injured. When Jaswinder
regained consciousness after an hour, he rang up the police. The
latter arrived and rushed both to the hospital.
Randhir received
14 stitches on his head before he succumbed to his injuries in the
hospital on July 1.
Kulwant accused
the company authorities of causing a delay in taking him to the
hospital. Randhir's elder son Jatinder Singh, who also worked in the
company for a year, said he and his father had returned to their
village in December last year. He said his father went back to
Dubai on
February 20.
The
Dubai
police have registered a case against the accused.
