Sirsa fraudster says he's too sick
to appear in murder, rape cases
WSN Network
Ambala: Rape and
murder-accused Sirsa dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim failed to appear in
the CBI court here on Saturday in connection with two cases of
murder and a case of sexual exploitation citing ill health. Gurmeet
Ram Rahim was to appear before Special CBI Judge AK Verma in
connection with the sexual exploitation of Dera ‘sadhvis’ and
murders of journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati and Dera manager
Ranjit Singh.
The Dera chief
is said to have sent a medical certificate seeking exemption from
appearance in the court on Saturday, citing ill heath. The court has
fixed July 26 as the next date of hearing. Gurmeet Ram Rahim,
currently also facing serious charges under Section 295 of IPC for
hurting Sikh sentiments and a raging target of Sikh ire, is the lone
accused in the sexual exploitation case.
In the Ranjit
Singh murder case, besides the Dera chief, Kishan Lal, Jasbir Singh,
Avtar Singh, Inder Sain and Sabdil Singh are among the accused,
while in the Chattarpati murder case, apart from the Dera chief,
Kishan Lal, Kuldeep Singh and Nirmal Singh have been listed as the
accused.
The CBI had
filed chargesheets in the sexual exploitation case and two murder
cases in October 2007 in the CBI court against the Dera chief and
seven others.
