Badal brings shame to the
community, uses Lord's name for it
WSN Bureau
PHAGWARA: There
is no stopping Parkash Singh Badal from not just helping the saffron
charge at corrupting the Sikhism core values but even leading it
himself. it is pretty okay to call for 'a culture of conscious,
cordiality and understanding' among political parties which is what
Badal did in Phagwara on July 6 but what other things he did would
have shocked any Akal Purakh-fearing Sikh.
The Chief
Minister not just participated in the "Shri Ram Navmi Utsav
Committee, Jalandhar" celebrations but even lit earthen lamps before
the portrait of Lord Ram and performed a sort of Aarti, something
anathema for any Sikh believing in the teachings of Guru Granth
Sahib.
"The Chief
Minister said that Lord Sri Ram had showed us the path of ideal and
virtuous living to carve out a prosperous and harmonious society. He
said that to bring 'Ram Raj' back every one should follow the
teachings of Lord Sri Ram in the real spirit, which were still
relevant in the present materialistic society besides redeeming the
mankind from the yoke of evils," an official press release issued by
the Chief Minister's office said.
Not once did
Badal mention what Sikhism has to say about idol worship, or how a
whole notion of patriarchy and subjugation of women is being
professed and propelled by using the story of Ramayana and
Mahabharta. The idea of retrieving and redeeming the lost traditions
in favour of the dalit and the impoverished, in favour of the
subjugated women, did not occur to Mr Badal.
Instead, he said
that pious occasions like Ramnaumi, and Dussehra "not only promote a
sense of communal harmony and mutual understanding amongst the
people but also showers joy and prosperity on them."
He even asked
the Sikhs to celebrate these saying these occasions should be
celebrated "with religious fervour and gaiety rising above the petty
considerations of caste, creed and religion."
Read what
Badal's office said in a written statement: "Badal paid obeisance to
Lord Sri Ram by lighting a holy lamp in front of Lord Sri Rama's
portrait and honoured the representatives of various Ram Lila and
Dussehra Committees of the state." Witnessing such devotion was
Vijay Chopra, Chief Editor, Hind Samachar Group of News Papers. No
wonder, Badal was also accompanied by BJP's Tiksan Sood, Avinash
Chander, Balramji Dass Tandon, Kamal Chaudhary and that shame of the
community called Maninderjit Singh Bitta.
