Bhai Jandi seeks Fremont Sangat's co-operation
WSN Bureau
FREMONT: The
newly elected members and executive committee of the Supreme Council
of Gurdwara Fremont appealed to the Sangat for whole-hearted
cooperation to extricate the institution from acute financial
crisis. The situation has taken such a turn that it has become
difficult to pay property tax dues and the day is not far when
penalties may have to be paid, he said. The Committee did not have
funds to pay salaries to administrative staff of the Gurdwara Sahib,
he further said. While addressing the Sunday congregation, Bhai
Jaswinder Singh Jandi gave details of what has been officially
handed over by the previous committee and what still remains to be
done.
Bhai Jandi said
that the previous committee has left behind a deficit of 14 thousand
dollars in the bank account and that such a situation has arisen for
the first time in the history of the Gurdwara. He said that property
taxes to the tune of thousands of dollars due since February this
year have to be paid by 10 April or else penalties will have to be
paid.
He further
pointed out in his speech that three years ago when their committee
had handed over the accounts to the Receiver there was a balance of
8 lakh and 58 thousand dollars without any loan dues on the Gurdwara
Sahib. In just three years, the coffers are empty and we have loan
dues to the tune of thousands of dollars and a deficit balance in
the bank account.
Making a
comparison with other Gurdwaras, the newly elected member pointed
out that the Gurdwra Sahib Elsebronte had 7 lakh dollars in their
kitty and that the San Jose Gurdwara had a magnificent Gurdwara
building. The financial strength of both the Gurdwara was far
better than that of Gurdwara Fremont, he rued, narrating how in the
past the situation was different with the San Jose Gurdwara Sahib
seeking support of the Fremont Gurdwara.
He appealed to
the Sangat to generously donate to bring the Gurdwara Sahib out of
the red. He thanked the Sangat on behalf of the Sadh Sangat- United
Sikh Alliance slate for reposing confidence in the new committee and
entrusting them with the responsibility of running the Gurdwara
affairs. He appealed to Bhai Ram Singh to cooperate with the new
committee to tide over the crisis situation.
Almost No
Langar in Gurdwara Fremont
Member of the
Supreme Council of Gurdwara Fremont, Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa who
has been overseeing the management of Langar at the Gurdwara for the
last many years apprised the Sangat that there were virtually no
ration stock in the Gurdwara Sahib. He said that though they had
the keys to the Gurdwara, the kitchen cabinets are empty. One of
the employees of the Langar had resigned from the job on 30th
March. For the first time in many years, the Committee had to
actually buy rations to organize the daily Langar.
During the
course of the Sunday congregation, famous Kirtani Jathas of Bhai
Manjit Singh of Pathankot, Giani Jarnail Singh –Hazuri Ragi Jatha of
Gurdwara Ber Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi, Giani Megh Singh Dilli, Bhai
Dilbagh Singh of Damdami Taksal, bhai Gurtar Singh of Hoshiarpur
recited Gurbani and the Kathavachak Jatha of Bhai Mahesh Singh Dilli
and Hazuri Jatha Bhai Gurpreet Singh explained the meaning of
Gurbani to the Sangat.
