Sikh taxi driver attacked in Melbourne
WSN Network

MELBOURNE: Though the intent and purpose of the person who attacked a Sikh student who was doubling as a taxi driver in Melbourne is still not clear, the Sikh population fears that there is a trend of racial abuse building up in Australia.

To curb the trend and to identify the attacker, the police have released computer images of the attacker, who was left bleeding from multiple stab wounds by the roadside for two-and-a-half hours this morning.

The Indian student, aged 23 from Reservoir, who started driving taxis at night just weeks ago was fighting for his life in hospital after he was found several hundred metres from his smashed car in Clifton Hill this morning.

Paramedics and police were called to the hotel just before 6am today. Intensive care paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before taking him to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
