teachers in English
WSN Network
CHANDIGARH:
Under an agreement with the University of Wolver Hampton, now
teachers from Britain will train class X teachers in Punjab
government schools in teaching of the English language.
“We have already
trained 42 teachers from the state in May. It was a ten-day camp in
which our teachers went to local schools in
Punjab and tried
to explain the impor- tance of improving and perfecting English in
teaching,” said Jasbir Singh, Principal Lecturer Overseas
Development, University of Wolver Hampton, UK while speaking to the
media ar Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran.
He said the main
skill that they are trying to develop in teachers is communication
methodology and how it can improve the learning process for
students.
“We will be
looking at classrooms, infrastructure, teaching skills, teaching
systems, lesson plans, assessment. We want to improve the balance
among the theoretical and practical portion of the learning
methodology,” he informed.
This will
improve the confidence level of students. The students will start
communicating themselves, which will enhance their skills
dramatically. This cur rently is a one-way process as teachers speak
in English while students just listen and do not feel adept to
interact.
