Sacha Sauda men assault SAD (A) leader, brother

Bathinda: About two dozen Dera Sacha Sauda followers, reportedly backed by a Block Samiti member of the SAD (Badal), allegedly assaulted SAD (Amritsar) district president Parminder Singh Balianwali and his brother Harinder Singh at Balianwali village of the district. After beating them up, the culprits allegedly poured pesticides into their mouths.

Both had to undergo treatment at the local Civil Hospital where Harinder is said to be in a critical condition. Rivalry over the panchayat polls is said to have led to the assault. Party president Simranjit Singh Mann later arrived next day demanding strict action against the culprits.

Earlier, Harinder was present at his brother's pesticide/insecticide shop in the village when dera followers attacked him, accusing the brothers of indulging in anti-dera propaganda and creating trouble in the panchayat polls.
