Rangla Punjab in Chicago

"RANGLA PUNJAB 2008" ON SATURDAY, APRIL 12,  AT GATEWAY THEATER

CHICAGO : Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) is organizing this traditional, colorful Punjabi cultural program titled "Rangla Punjab 2008" for the last two decades. This is the single largest annual Punjabi cultural variety event in Chicago area that show cases the Punjabi performing arts and promotes the local community talent. A gathering of 2000 is expected where more than 250 local artists from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Arkansas, Michigan & California will display their best. This "Rangla Punjab" show has been staged in Chicago area since the early eighties.

"The purpose is to connect our next generation and others to Punjabi fine arts, festivals, and rich culture," said Amarjit Kaur Atwal, PCS president.

"Rangla Punjab" has been providing an excellent opportunity to our youth to learn Punjabi culture, performing arts and organizing skills. It has produced and promoted many young artists who go on to universities and stay involved. Our aim is to preserve our culture and keep the community together," said Ronny Kular, vice president PCS.

"At the Rangla Punjab show you feel like you are back home in Punjab," said Jarnail Singh Lail, PCS Chairperson.


"Rangla Punjab 2008" show will be organised on Saturday April 12, 2008 at Gateway (Copernicus) Theater, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, IL.

The third edition of the Punjabi community directory "Punjabi Pages 2008" will be released at this event. The directory will include community member information, resources, and useful services provider's information.
