Yeh kaisa dera dala re?
Dera head planning Sirsa-style hub
near Mumbai

MUMBAI: For a
murder and rape accused, held a prime culprit by
India's
top sleuthing agency CBI, Gurmeet Ram Rahim is pretty proactive
setting up new properties. He is now planning to set up a dera at
Khalapur in Raigad district, not far from Mumbai to propagate his
religious teachings, investigations by the WSN have shown.
It seems the
Maharashtra
government, which has only recently come to know of the development,
is not very happy about it. A team of Mumbai police crime branch
which included officers of the Special Operation Squad visited
Khalapur in connection with the unprovoked killing of a Sikh
resident of Mulund. Plans showed that the Khalapur dera would be
even more fortified and modern than the one at Sirsa. Fraudster
Gurmeet has acquired around 200 acres of land near Khalapur village
with hardly a population of 2,000 households.
Dera sadh has
built a fabulously expensive farm house on a plot exceeding 20 acres
which would invite comparision with the Raj Bhavan of the state
government at Malabar Hills in Mumbai. The plant is to create a
self-sufficient township for his followers. The Khalapur dera is
protected by private guards as well as the police personnel since
the government has provided protection to Baba Gurmeet and his camp
followers.
Carrying weapons
by dera followers is a normal practice at Khalapur.
