WSN Network
WASHINGTON:
Chairperson of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education, Dr.
Rajwant Singh appealed to all political parties to support the stand
of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the nuclear agreement with the
United States as he feels that the deal would benefit
India
and its teeming millions.
"India is too
big a country and has too much respect internationally to be bullied
into changing its foreign policies due to this deal" said Dr.
Rajwant Singh in a statement released to the media.
Dr. Rajwant
Singh further added that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has
demonstrated visionary leadership skills in creating immense
admiration for India among the G8 countries and also among other
emerging powers that they have come around to accept this agreement
and support
India's
new nuclear state status. He urged the leadership of the ruling
Shiromani Akali Dal party in
Punjab
to reconsider their standand support the UPA government on this
issue. The statement further said that
Punjab and the
whole of India are suffering from energy deficiency and their
progress on the economic front is hampered due to this major
inadequacy.
