Sikh businessman to walk 800 km to
raise 1 million pounds

LONDON:
A
leading Sikh NRI property developer will undertake an 800-km walk
from Scottish Parliament in
Edinburgh to the
Parliament House in London to raise 1 million pounds for charity.
Balwant Singh
Grewal, chairman of the India Association of London, will embark on
the five-week walk on June 4 to raise money for research in bowel
cancer and other bowel diseases for the St Mark’s Hospital at
Harrow.
Grewal, who was
born in
Punjab
and has been living in
London since
1958, has undertaken numerous walks for various charitable causes.
He undertook a
4,096-km ‘charity walk’ last year from Amritsar to Kanyakumari in
India and raised 100,000 pounds for institutes pursuing research in
the field of cancer and HIV AIDS. A keen sportsman all his life,
Bobby ran the London Marathon in just over 5 hours in 2001. The
70-year-old, popularly known as “Bobby”, announced his plan at the
annual Baisakhi Dinner organised by the India Association here last
night.
