Simran marks beginning of
celebrations at Nanded

From the streets of Punjab to the expressways of Canada, millions of
Sikhs got together in a unique manner as one of the biggest events
in the contemporary history of the Sikhs kicked off at Nanded.
Marking the beginning of a year long celebration of the 300th year
of the consecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Sikhs across the
globe celebrated Simran Diwas Thousands of Sikhs assembled at Nanded
for an auspicious ceremony backed by many Sikhs as they all exhorted
the Mool Mantra at the same time irrespective of whichever part of
the world they were in for 15 minutes.
For the first time in the history, millions of devotees reconnected
with God by reciting the 'Mool Mantra' for 15 minutes exactly at the
same time across the globe. TV channels beamed live the start of
Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra from Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur
Abchalnagar Sahib, Nanded from where the call for Simran Diwas was
given.
Simran Diwas marks the beginning of a year long celebration, '300
Saal Guru De Naal', to commemorate 300 years of Gurta Gaddi in
October 2008 at Nanded. Gurta Gaddi marks the anniversary of
consecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji as the holy Guru of Sikhs
forever. Over 4 million devotees are expected to visit Hazur Sahib,
Nanded in next one year. And to prepare for this, several
development activities are being undertaken in a mammoth scale and
speed.
Shastars of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and other Sikh martyrs
along with puratan hast-likhit Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji for darshan
was there. The Jagriti Yatra aims to connect to devotees across the
world spreading the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and
celebrating 300 Saal, Guru De Naal.
