Go Spinning Into The Sikh
Experience at Toronto Film Fest

TORONTO:
The annual Spinning Wheel Film Festival will celebrate its fifth
anniversary, kicking off another year of showcasing films touching
the Sikh experience.
This year's festival runs from November 23 to 25, 2007 at the Isabel
Bader Theatre, Toronto, and will feature seminars and exhibitions
alongside the films.
This year's line-up of films and seminars will include:
Partition - A documentary from the BBC examining one of the world's
largest migrations in history when India and Pakistan were created
in 1947.
Saving Mom and Dad - Told through the eyes of a 7 year old boy, Ravi
must save his Sikh parents through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as
their savior, before they are lost. Director: Kartik Singh
From Behind the Barricade - A film banned in India for over a
decade, looks at the lives of ordinary people and the repression
faced during Punjab's troubled times. Director and Producer: Tapan
Bose
Kabaddi Cops - A remarkable story about a determined group of police
officers from Toronto who take up the 4,000 year old sport in order
to bond with the local South Asian community. Director: Greg Cote
A Century of Sikh Photographs (1847-1947) - A photographic
exhibition that visually narrates the life and times of Sikhs from
the Sikh Raj to the Sikh Diaspora
Indian Classical Music Seminar- World renowned tabla player
Sukhwinder Singh Namdhari and vocalist Mohan Singh Namdhari
The festival will begin with a gala evening of world class
entertainment and a lavish Indian banquet, all setting the stage for
a colourful, exciting and thought-provoking weekend. The following
days will be just as entertaining, giving the audience an
opportunity to screen a myriad of films spanning all genres, take
part in discussion forums with film directors and celebrate South
Asian art and music with talented artists.
