The
beautification projects of Nanded in
Maharashtra got
a shot in the arm when its chairperson Pasricha was able to garner
funding from the non resident community in
England,
topping it with a whopping five hundred thousand dollars donation
from London-based philanthropist, Kartar Lalvani.
Chief of
Vitabiotics,
Britain's largest vitamin tablet manufacturing company, Kartar
Lalvani said that “the renovation of the gurdwara was long overdue
and it would serve as a glowing tribute to Guru Gobind Singh.” "The
tenth Guru held his court and congregation in Nanded. It is the site
of his tent where he was convalescing after being attacked by
assassins," Lalvani said.
Sikhs from all
over the world would be converging in lakhs at Nanded in October
this year to observe the Tercentenary Celebrations of the Guruship
of Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh, while conferring Guruship
had named Nanded as Abchalnagar (steadfast city).
The Takht Hazur
Sahib Committee has planned a major fund rasing campaign to put
Nanded on the world tourism map, said P. S. Pasricha, who is the
chairman of the administrative committee of the Gurdwara.
He said that the
Nanded airport would also be ready within the coming months.
Significantly, the World Punjabi Organisation will also contribute
Rs 2 crore for the upcoming Langar Hall.
