Dera-Sikh clashes: 5 injured in Punjab
WSN Network

BARNALA: Five persons - four Sikhs and one Dera Sirsa follower - were injured and six vehicles damaged in a clash between members of the two communities at Bhadaur district's Diwane village on Thursday afternoon.

Trouble ensued when a group of Sikhs objected to use of the standard Sikh ardaas over the public address system during a funeral.

The Sikh group included followers of the organisation Ek Noor Khalsa Fauj. Dera followers retaliated by stone-pelting from the terrace. Sewak Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Ranjit Singh and a Dera follower, Baljit Singh, received grievous injuries.

Two vehicles of the Dera supporters were torched and four other vehicles damaged. Bhadaur police rushed to the spot, arresting 10 Dera supporters.

Sikh supporters blocked traffic at Kalalan Road to press for stringent action against them.
