SGPC panel to clear ‘Singh is
Kinng’

PATIALA:
Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh is Kinng'
film, which is in the final stages of production, would be released
only after clearance from a committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara
Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). This was decided by film producer Vipul
Shah and SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar during the latter's
recent visit to Mumbai.
The SGPC chief
said he liked the story about a ‘patit' Sikh (with shorn hair and
beard), played by Akshay, who becomes a ‘puran' Sikh by the end of
the movie. "If the movie becomes popular, we can use it for the
propagation of Sikhism to bring back a large number of ‘patit' Sikhs
to the fold," Makkar said.
The production
is expected to be completed by July 12, after which an SGPC
committee will view the film, leaving no scope for any controversy
at a later stage. Interestingly, the committee will watch the movie
before it is sent to the censor board for its clearance. "We have
raised some objections and demanded that neces sary changes be made.
The director has sought time till July 12 to carry out all
rectifications.
