on March 22
WSN Network
FREMONT: The
counting for the election held for Fremont Gurdwara’s Supreme
Council will now be held on March 22, 2008, Saturday, thus leading
to many anxious moments for the sadh sangat and various
slates and their supporters.
Balloting to
elect the five members of the Supreme Council was held on March 9,
and those supervising the election process had announced that the
counting would be carried out on March 15. Consequently, in the
presence of representatives of all the parties to the election,
preparations were made for counting at
Oakland.
Ballot papers were taken out of boxes and sorted out, but because of
discrepancies in the number of votes polled and those registered,
all sides kept their reserved their consent for the counting to go
ahead.
It is understood
that the number of ballot papers printed, votes cast and the left
over ballot papers is all fine, but some candidates did put up
objections because of mistakes in deleting certain names from the
voters' list as compared to the total votes cast. After hearing out
these people, the supervisory staff announced its decision for a
counting on next Saturday, that is, March 22.
