Sikh student wears turban at graduation ceremony
WSN Bureau

SAGINA (TEXAS): Inspite of stiff resistance from the viceprincipal of the school, Ms. Windsor, Simratpal Singh Hayer and his family did not budge and managed to take permission from the school principal, C. Canterbury regarding wearing the turban to the school graduation ceremony.

The parents of Simratpal Singh managed to convince the school principal that the turban was an integral part of the Sikh religion and that "a Sikh was incomplete without the turban." Dressed smartly in the graduation gown with the turban of matching color, Simratpal Singh was elated that the school authorities had finally allowed him to wear the turban.
