Sikh community condemns Orissa
attacks
WSN Network
Amritsar: The
Sikh community has collectively condemned the attacks on Christians
in various parts of India, mostly carried out by Hindutva terror
agents. A meeting of five Sikh high priests, representing the top
clergy of the religion, at the Akal Takht secretariat on September 9
condemned the attacks on Christians, particularly the sacrilege of
churches in Orissa.
The Sikh
community itself has been a victim of sacrilege of religious places,
foremost being the Indian army attack on Golden Temple, Amritsar.
Akal Takht
Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said attacks on minorities and their
places of worship were most reprehensible. Incidentally, Punjab's
ruling Akali Dal has an alliance with the BJP which is virtually
defending the attacks on minorities and whose sister organisations
are directly involved.
