Sardar Kuldip Singh passes away
New York

We are saddened to inform you of the sudden demise of Sardar Kuldip Singh on October 14, 2007 occurred at 10PM.

Sardar Kuldip Singh’s journey began in a small village in District Lyallpur(now Faizlabaad) known as Chhok Lishariyan. He was born into the house of Mata Tej Kaur and Sardar Gurbaksh Singh.  

He completed his Masters Degree at Mahindra College, Patiala.  Subsequently, he obtained a degree in journalism from Punjab University. He also completed a course in magazine publishing at NYU.

He spent many years in the fields of journalism, teaching, translation, publicity and public relations.

He was head of the publishing department at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar from 1972 to 1980. He was responsible for establishing the publishing department at the University. 

He has been living with him family in New York since 1980. He spent many years working at McGraw-Hill publishing.  

He organized and participated in many seminars on Sikhism in India and abroad.  He has been writing on Sikhi related topics in many magazines and newspapers for over 25 years. 

His mission in life was to spread the message of Guru Granth Sahib. Through his writings and various seminars, he spent many years stressing the importance of Gurmat and Gurbani and its relationship to Sikhs as a people. He organized many educational seminars throughout India in the last few years.  

Kuldip Singh was the founder of the Punjabi Literary and Cultural Society of New York. He was an executive member of The Sikh Heritage Foundation. 

He entered the literary world with his first book of Punjabi Poetry, Trikha(Thirst), in 1994. He wrote a second book, Vaig, in 1997.

The funeral arrangements for S. Kuldip Singh are as follows.

Funeral on Wednesday October 17th, 3pm - 5 pm sharp at the following address.
