Karnataka CM says Sikh pilgrims will get all facilities
WSN Network

BIDAR: Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has announced the release of Rs. 15 crore to Bidar for providing basic amenities to Sikh pilgrims who will visit the city in October in connection with Guru'ta Gaddi celebrations.

The CM visited Guru Nanak Sahed Jhira here on Tuesday and promised release of additional funds, if required, for providing basic amenities, and ensure that Sikh pilgrims would not face any inconvenience.

He said that basic amenities had to be provided to Sikh pilgrims coming to Bidar city from Nanded in Maharashtra. Arrangements should be made to construct temporary sheds and good roads, make arrangements for adequate power and drinking water supply, and maintaining hygiene, he said.

Yeddyurappa directed Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta to take steps to start work on providing basic amenities to the pilgrims without delay.

Regarding the launch of civil aviation operations in the city, Yeddyurappa said Rs. 3 crore had been released for taking up construction of a passenger terminal close to the Air Force Station, Bidar. He expressed hope that the work would be completed within October.

Yeddyurappa said that Minister for Animal Husbandry and district in charge Revu Naik Belmagi had been instructed to monitor works for providing basic amenities to the Sikh pilgrims. Yeddyurappa said that during his tenure as Finance Minister of the State, he had released Rs. 150 crore for tourism activities.

He promised to lay stress on tourism development in Bidar city, which had many historical places. A Tourism Officer would be appointed for Bidar, he said. “I have just completed 35 days in office as Chief Minister. My style of functioning is different from that of previous Chief Ministers,” he said.
