Karnataka CM says Sikh pilgrims
will get all facilities

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has announced the release of Rs. 15
crore to Bidar for providing basic amenities to Sikh pilgrims who
will visit the city in October in connection with Guru'ta Gaddi
celebrations.
The CM visited
Guru Nanak Sahed Jhira here on Tuesday and promised release of
additional funds, if required, for providing basic amenities, and
ensure that Sikh pilgrims would not face any inconvenience.
He said that
basic amenities had to be provided to Sikh pilgrims coming to Bidar
city from Nanded in
Maharashtra.
Arrangements should be made to construct temporary sheds and good
roads, make arrangements for adequate power and drinking water
supply, and maintaining hygiene, he said.
Yeddyurappa
directed Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta to take steps to start work
on providing basic amenities to the pilgrims without delay.
Regarding the
launch of civil aviation operations in the city, Yeddyurappa said Rs.
3 crore had been released for taking up construction of a passenger
terminal close to the Air Force Station, Bidar. He expressed hope
that the work would be completed within October.
Yeddyurappa said
that Minister for Animal Husbandry and district in charge Revu Naik
Belmagi had been instructed to monitor works for providing basic
amenities to the Sikh pilgrims. Yeddyurappa said that during his
tenure as Finance Minister of the State, he had released Rs. 150
crore for tourism activities.
He promised to
lay stress on tourism development in Bidar city, which had many
historical places. A Tourism Officer would be appointed for Bidar,
he said. “I have just completed 35 days in office as Chief Minister.
My style of functioning is different from that of previous Chief
Ministers,” he said.
