KAC set to file complaint
against Badal on Advani book
WSN Network
DAMDAMA SAHIB: The
Khalsa Action Committee last Monday passed a resolution saying it
will file a complaint against Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh
Badal at Akal Takht for defending L K Advani's anti-Sikh book 'My
Country, My Life'. The decision was taken at a convention organized
by SAD (1920), SAD (Panch Pardhani) and the Dal Khalsa under the
aegis of the Khalsa Action Committee to commemorate 309the birth
anniversary of the Sikh Nation.
Bhai Mohkam Singh, convenor of the KAC, said, "We strongly object to
such scribbles of Advani". Bhai Daljit Singh, co-convenor of the KAC,
accused Sirsa Dera head of working against Sikhs and Sikhism and
insulting Sikh Gurus and traditions.
The KAC also honoured family members of Bakshish Singh, Swaran
Singh, Hoshiar Singh, Parveen Kaur and others who are falsely
accused of bid to kill Sirsa dera head Gurmeet ram rahim, named
prime accused in rape and murder cases by the CBI.
The KAC also honoured wife, mother and father of Kanwaljeet Singh,
who were killed in firing by dera supporters May 17 last year.
The KAC called Vaisakhi as the national day of the Sikhs. "(We) are
a Nation though subjugated. Sikhs as a nation has been struggling
for its freedom against all odds, refusing to submit to those who
aim to eliminate their identity," the resolution said.
Bhai Kanwarpal Singh of Dal Khalsa demanded, as did a resolution,
that the death sentence of Prof Devinderpal Singh Bhullar be
commuted. The resolution also demanded release of all political
prisoners languishing in jails since long.

What they said
·
Paramjit
Singh Sarna, DSGMC president: “Bhindranwale was definitely a
saint. He was a Sikh religious preacher who
helped to remove many social evils, such as alcoholism...
After 24 years of the Operation Bluestar, we now have
written evidence in the form of Advani’s book that apart
from the Congress, the BJP was also equally responsible for
the ‘massacre’. Badal is compromising for keeping his
position in the government. He is defending Advani only for
political gains.”
·
Sukhbir
Singh Badal: “I cannot comment on it because I have not read
the book. Have you read the book?...I have asked the Media
Advisor to the CM to procure a copy of the book.”
·
Punjab BJP
leader and senior Minister in Badal Cabinet Manoranjan Kalia:
“There is nothing objectionable in the book. The BJP is
proud of its track record and fully backs Advani Ji’s book.
It is a tribute to the outstanding bravery, glory and
patriotism of the Sikhs and Punjabis.”
·
M.V. Kamath,
senior journalist, currently wearing saffron colours:
“(Advani is) so utterly transparent, so genuinely
openhearted, so completely dedicated that reading this
memoir comes as a beckoning light to shattered hopes and
downcast lives...Advaniji is a marvellous story teller and
what a fantastic collection of stories he has to tell! What
is so charming and endearing about this book are the nuggets
of wisdom that frequently flow out of the narrative.” (It is
surprising how some people sell their quill along with their
soul.)
·
Parkash
Singh Badal, obviously eager to cap the controversy, and
typically remaining himself: “Mediapersons are in the habit
of posing questions without going through the concerned
matter. They can convert an animal into a demon in no time.
(Waiving Advani’s book) We have the book and we know what is
written in it.”
·
Sukhdev
Singh Dhindsa: “The references given by Advani are illtimed
and avoidable.”
·
Manjit
Singh
Calcutta: “It was unfortunate that Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh
Badal had defended Advani for the remarks in the book.” |
