Printing of Birs by
pvt publishers banned
WSN Network
Amritsar: District
magistrate Kahan Singh Pannu here has issued orders to prevent the
publication of Birs (copies) of Guru Granth Sahib by private
publishers.
The ban order says that the printing, publication and distribution
of Birs has been hurting the feelings of Sikhs and, thereby, posing
a threat to the law and order situation in the district. It has been
issued under Section 144 of the CrPC.
Only the SGPC or any institution authorised by it is authorised to
print the Birs, the order said. It shall remain in force till
December 8.
