SYA warns against proclivity to repress Sikh struggle
WSN Network

SAN FRANCISCO: The Sikh Youth of America has termed the arrests of Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Akal Takht's former jathedar Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode, former ambassador S. Harinder Singh Khalsa 'Norway' and Khalsa Action Committee's senior members and other party workers as a shameless and cowardly attack on the democratic rights of the Sikh community.

In a joint signed statement here, the organization's Coordination Committee members Dr. Ranjit Singh, Bhai John Singh Gill, S. Gurinderjit Singh Maana and S. Jasjeet Singh said that the regime of the day must keep check the anti-Sikh activities of the Sirsa dera's rogue head otherwise the atmosphere in the state will only come under further strain. "It is the duty of the government of the day to take action against the provocative activities of the dera sadh's supporters so that the sentiments of the Sikh fraternity in Punjab and all over the world are not hurt further," the statement said.

It said apart from the selfstyled sadh of the Sirsa dera, others like Ashutosh and the criminal Bhaniara have been playing dangerous games in Punjab in the garb of religion. These people in fact have become a major threat to the peace and prosperity of Punjab. The earlier experience tells us that no matter which party is in power in Punjab, it is the Sikhs who become a target of the regimes instead of the antisocial elements.

As for the Congress, it is of course a part of its raison d'etre to act against the Sikhs and Punjab but even the administration led by Akali Dal (Badal) is also directly and indirectly encouraging the anti-Sikh forces for their vested interests. This attitude of Badal and his associates, inspired by a wish to fulfill their narrow parochial interests and transitory advantages, will eventually result in a serious crisis for the people of the state. In that situation, the ruling Akali Dal would have to be answerable.

The Sikh Youth of America said the Akali Dal (Badal), having sensed the increasing base and popularity of Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader Bhai Daljit Singh because of his decision to firmly stick to the righteous stand and courage of conviction, is now adamant on somehow keeping him behind bars for a longer period. It is with such a nefarious thought in mind that Bhai Daljit Singh is arrested every now and then on flimsy reasons.

The organization has warned that if this proclivity to create problems and obstacles for those trying to democratically lead the Sikh Panth, including the Akali Dal (Amritsar), Khalsa Action Committee and other fraternal organizations, did not end, then the Sikhs will be forced to intensify their struggle further.

Therefore, it was imperative that the government ensures a shut down of the fraud shop of Gurmeet Ram Rahim in view of the rising public anger and bring this bunch of gangsters to book to face justice.
