India’s Sikh
hockey star says ‘enough is enough’
WSN Network
PERTH/CHANDIGARH:
Top Indian Hockey star and pride of the Sikh community, Rajpal
Singh, has finally cocked a snook at the administrators of the game
after he was constantly being targetted despite consistent and
fantastic performance.
Now, with less
than a month to go for the crucial Olympic qualifiers in Santiago,
Chile, Rajpal Singh, a key striker, finally told the world that
“enough is enough”. In several conversations separately with
reporters from
Perth,
Rajpal, in whom the city of
Chandigarh also
takes pride, said he would not play the qualifiers. “My self-respect
is most important for me,” he said, thus making it clear that he was
being hassled by his coach. Rajpal has been a key member of the
national squad.
It is clear that
his ties with coach Joaquim Carvalho have not been great.
Incidentally,
India
has entrusted its entire hockey domain to KPS Gill, neither known
for his sportsmanship, nor skills in any sport except bloodshed of
innocents.
