Haryana moving to shift fraudster
sadh’s trial to Sirsa
WSN Network
Chandigarh: The
Haryana government is planning to approach the
Punjab
and Haryana High Court for holding a special court at Sirsa for
hearing rape and murder cases against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet
Ram Rahim. The trial is currently being conducted by special CBI
court in Ambala.
This will be
clearly a way to help the fraudster baba on the part of the haryana
government but the alibi being given to sections of the media and
perpetuated by them is that witnesses and complainants against the
Dera chief will be able to depose without any pressure.
Incidentally,
the complainants have often demanded that the trial be shifted to
Delhi.

Complainant does not want it
In a clear
indictment of the way the governments have been trying to save
the fraudster sadh of Sirsa, Ashwani Bakshi, lawyer of the
Chhatarpati family in Ram Chander murder case, has said, “To
ensure free and fair trial, the court should not be held in
Haryana, Punjab or Rajasthan as these are strongholds of the
Dera.”
He said the
government has been trying to accommodate the Dera chief to hold
the court at Sirsa, which is its headquarters. The fact that he
included Punjab too as a state where the trial should not be
held says something about the Akali Dal-BJP government’s image
and reputation in the matter. |

Earlier, the
government had requested the HC authorities to shift the CBI court
from Ambala to Sirsa, but in January, it was asked to approach the
court in a proper legal manner. Haryana was even toying with the
idea of setting up of a special CBI court at Sirsa, but that did not
find favour with the CBI.
A few months
back, high court authorities had shifted the CBI court from judicial
complex to police lines at Ambala. No wonder, the new move of the
Haryana government has found its defenders among the Baba’s
disciples.
Dera spokesman
Pawan who considers it de rigueur to suffix “Insaan” (human) after
his name in order to distinguish himself from other people, called
it “administrative work”.
Efforts are on
to make the security of baba an alibi if nothing else worked.
