Dewan in memory of the martyrs of
June 1984

FREMONT:
On 6the June,
the sangat of Gurudwara Fremont held a special Dewan in the memory
of the martyrs of June 1984 attack on Darbar Sahib. After the Bhog
of Akhand Path in the morning, there was a kirtan darbar in the
evening which witnessed the participation of Raagi Jathas including
Bhai Bhupinder Singh Anand Delhi Wale, Bhai Sohan Singh Gurdaspur
Wale, Bhai Manjit Singh, Former Head Granthi of Gurudwara Fremont
Bhai Paramjit Singh, Bhai Dilbag Singh of Damdami Taksal and Sikh
intellectual Bhai Sahib Bhai Sahib Singh narrated details of
martyrdom and paid homage to the martyrs.
To enable the
completion of the incomplete projects of Gurudwara Fremont, on 6th
June a fund raising programme was held and Daswandh of the sangat
was sought. This programme was broadcast live over popular radio
station, Radio Geet sangeet. During this programme members of the
governing Council appealed to the sangat to participate in the blood
donation drive on 8th June. The Sangat whole heartedly participated
in the drive. The function ended with kirtan and dhaadi waars using
the Rabab and string instruments. The stage was managed by Satnam
Singh Khalsa who urged the sangat to continue the struggle for the
freedom of the Sikhs. He also appealed to the sangat to contribute
handsomely towards Gurudwara funds.
