Brothers get
father killed 'coz he wanted to re-marry

JALANDHAR: In a
shocking incident which is also symptomatic of how a totally
materially-oriented world is affecting relationships, three brothers
allegedly got murdered their widower father simply because he had
expressed a wish to get re-married.
The three, two of them settled in germany and one living with the
father in the village, hired contract killers for Rs 4 lakh to get
the father bumped off. The Germany based brothers had sent the money
through hawala.
Police said victim Karnail Singh, a teacher at the Saidpur Jhirri
village primary school, was planning to remarry after his first wife
Swaran Kaur died 18 months ago. However, Rajwinder Singh, a resident
of Shalapur village, and his Germanybased brothers Sumandeep and
Amandeep were not in favour of it. The sons were of the view that
their father's re-marriage would have caused embarrassment to the
family and also resulted in sharing of ancestral property with the
stepmother, Shahkot DSP Diljinder Singh Dhillon said.
Karnail was gunned down while he was returning home from school by
two motorcycle-borne youth. The police stumbled upon the contract
killers involved in the murder while trying to solve a case of
attempt to murder.
Two persons, including a son of the deceased, have been arrested.
Dhillon said the teacher had survived an attempt on his life when a
vehicle had hit him on May 8.
