First book on Chandigarh Gurdwaras released

In a first of sorts, a new book now introduces readers to all gurdwaras in and around Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab. Released
by Professor Kharak Singh, a renowned Sikh scholar and member of the
Dharam Prachar committee of the SGPC, the book is a result of the
efforts of Dr Pritpal Singh, founder member of an NGO, Foundation
for Developmental Research, Sector 35, Chandigarh.
It has been compiled with the help of
various researchers that includes Dr M.K. Mehar, Dr K.R. Kaur and
Aviraj Singh. This 146-page book is available in almost all books
stores of Sector 17 and can be purchased at the cost of Rs 150. The
aim of this publication is to provide information to the public and
administration about the existing status of ‘Sikh Religious
Institutions’ and their contribution to society This innovative
compilation is intended to be a source guide as it covers the
profile of each gurdwara of the city.
The input for this publication is based
on primary data, collected from each Gurdwara. It discusses the
strength and weakness of the gurdwaras.
