Top sleuthing agency confirms dera head is
rapist, murderer

CHANDIGARH: India's top federal
sleuthing agency has spoken. The Central Bureau of Investigation,
often compared to the United States' FBI, told the Ambala court on
Tuesday that Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim was indeed a
murderer, a rapist and a rank criminal. On Wednesday, the CBI told
the Punjab and Haryana High Court about the fact that it has
submitted the chargesheets, and on August 1, Gurmeet Ram Rahim will
have to finally trudge the distance from his so-called 'Gufa' to the
court's dock to listen to the charges that the CBI has laid at his
door -- that he is a rapist and a murderer. So much for his claims
about being some kind of a super-insaan nurtured on rooh-afza
concoctions!
It is widely expected that the dera head, who has a fetish for using
followers, including women, as a human shield every time law comes
knocking, will spill hundreds of thousands of followers on Ambala's
roads to display his might.
Sources privy to the CBI report said Gurmeet Ram Rahim stands
charged with criminal conspiracy in the murder of Ranjit Singh, the
dera sewadar, and with the rape of sadhvis at the Dera. Most likely,
he will also be charged with murder of Sirsa-based journalist Ram
Chander Chattarpati though confirmation of that is still to come
from the CBI.
The chargesheets have been filed in the Ambala court of Justice RN
Bharti which is the trial court for CBI cases. The CBI was directed
by the High Court to do so by July 31. However, it seems the CBI has
not asked for the arrest of the dera head.
The slain scribe's son Anshul Chattrapati welcomed the CBI's steps
and said, “My father lived and died for 'Poora Sach' (the newspaper
he used to bring out), but his sacrifice will not go in vain. It is
a great moral victory for all of that the murderer of my father, of
Ranjit Singh and the rapist of many girls will now finally be
exposed for what he is and taken to justice."
